Steve Gesuale is a global health practitioner with broad experience building and managing diverse international development programs. He has sixteen years of experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating global public health programs. He has managed multiple family planning, HIV prevention and social marketing programs in Southern Africa. He led a large-scale Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) servicey delivery program, a multi-country, $50 million program. He now works predominantly in helping organizations interpret and communicate program and survey data, specializing in applying best practices of data visualization in innovative ways. Steve has significant expertise in behavior change communications, program design, proposal development, training and facilitation, grant writing, donor relations and financial management.  

As a global health consultant, Steve has supported numerous non-profit organizations and donor agencies. His work typically involves helping people find the insights in their data – whether through direct analysis or via the development of visual analytic tools such as infographics or interactive monitoring dashboards. Steve employs the best practices of data visualization and user design, working with staff at all levels to create and share most effective visualization for any specific set of data.

Steve worked for nine years at Population Services International, most recently at a Deputy Regional Director for East Africa, providing support to 11 countries. From 2006-2011, Steve was based in Zambia, and served as the Project Director for a large-scale Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) servicey delivery program, helping to initiate programs in Zambia, Swaziland and Zimbabwe. He supported country teams in the design and execution of clinical service delivery, HIV counseling and testing, clinical training, demand creation and research studies. Steve also led the development and launch of multiple socially-marketed and cost-recoverable family planning products. 

Steve worked previously in domestic social marketing and behavior change programs. He was a Peace Corps Volunteer and Trainer in Zimbabwe.
